Holy shit, I just got back from the Mercenary/Dew-Scented/Nevermore gig tonight in Nottingham and my neck still aches lol. Right now I am literally typing with my chin on my chest.
First of all I would like to express my gratitude to Mercenary for really giving 110% tonight. Mikkel sounds better live than on record, some of those screams were fantastic. I overheard someone say that he resembled the singer from Iced Earth, Tim Owens... Put it this way, if Mikkel had been Judas Priest's singer, they wouldn't have sucked so bad and you might not see Rob with them now. Kral's hoarse grunts and screaming also sounded great, you two are a fantastic pair vocally. Fuck it, I could go on and on about how you guys ruled, how each member played their part to perfection and quickly won the audience over - no disrespect to Dew-Scented but Mercenary was the better band on stage and deserved to have the second support slot instead of curtain opener.
I really enjoyed the show, if I wasn't headbanging I was singing lol. The highlight of my night was Mikkel coming back to shake my hand. When the band was disassembling their gear I was half-tempted to shout out a question of when the next album will be out... But I didn't pluck up the nerve in time lol.
The only bad thing about tonight was the crowd surfer who almost strangled me and is partly to blame for my neck right now - that and excessive headbanging.
But once again thank you to Mercenary and I hope you play the UK again soon. Maybe next time I'll have enough money to buy a shirt lol.
