Hey...

Mercenary is confirmed for Progpower festival Scandinavia as a headliner. Really awesome if you ask me.

Other bands confirmed are Threshold, Circus Maximus and Andromeda.

This is the first time there will be a Progpower Scandinavia.

Anyways... Hope that someone here might come.

check the website http://www.progpowerscandinavia.com/

For the first year this is just to see if it can be run around. We don't expect to actually earn money on this the first year, but just making it a success. Hopefully, if people buy tickets it will be coming back.

Bass @ We do have other bands than just prog. We wouldn't be allowed to use the name if we didn't follow the concept.

All bands are confirmed now and they are as follows

Mercenary (hl)
Threshold (co-hl)
Circus Maximus
Spheric Universe Experience

Orphaned Land (hl)
Firewind (co-hl)
Eldritch
Darkane
Machine Men
Andromeda

We have handpicked all bands, and there has been no "selling out" here. By that I mean we have only chosen bands we really like.

Hope to see some of you there there.

Mercenary as headliner is pretty obvious. :p
Besides Mercenary, it's only Threshold and Andromeda I've heard about. I will, however, google them all and find info so I have an idea of which I like and want to see.:)

Where's Pain of Salvation, eh? :p

Anyways.. Pretty ace with these two headliners! And the rest of the line-up is awesome. I am of course going to be there! Both nights! Damn, there's looong time to go...

Just listened to some songs from Threshold's newest 'Dead Reckoning' (2007) - seems like I'm destined to buy it. :)

You really should.

The venue is located in the very center of the city, so lots of cheap hotels all around and in walking distance.

Your boss being nice again, good for you :) I'm waiting to sign my work contract soon so I will know how flexible my work schedule will be before I can book the flights and some ho(s)tel - surely won't be able to find as awesome flight deal as you did though!

I wish I could go, a lot of those bands sound intensely fun. Mads: How did you get involved in the idea of running this fest? Also, I would make the suggestion you attempt to book Elvenking. They are fucking phenominal guys.

I, myself, have either seen or will see a lot of those bands due to PPUSA, so you're all in for one hell of a treat. Espeically if it's anything like the PPUSA atmosphere where you can rub elbows with the bands. Trust me when I say: The Mercenary guys are absolutely great to hang out with and chat with, especially Mikkel and Jakob.

Can only agree to that. I will not prefer one person over another though. I'm kind of diplomatic. :)

I didn't get a whole lot of chance to talk to Morten, Rene, or Mike that night, it was kind of a large party ;) The whole band mingled through the crowd well :)

Who else besides me were there and want to share his/her experience from the fest?

First of all THANK FUCKING YOU to BumZen and all others involved in this. When I saw the big backdrop on the scene and could hear people speaking Swedish, German, French, Italian, English (British and American), Finnish etc I stood there like: 'Wow this is far bigger than I personally could hope for.'
Darkane and Mercenary (ofc) RULED the shit. The sound at some points during the fest could have been better, but that's only minor things. The rest of the lineup surprised me positively.
Except Eldritch.....what the hell went wrong with that lead singer? His pounding on the chest, awkward face expressions and strange ways of walking around on the stage made me think that he's more image than voice.
But hopefully there will be another PP next year.

Just wanted to thank anybody who showed up at the festival.
It was great to see such a big crowd at both days.
Thanks a lot... especially to Eski for sticking around for the whole shazam.
Also a big thanks to Mercenary for delivering their best live performance ever. It is admirable how they just get better and better for each time I see them live.

Cheers

Hello evryone !

I attended the ProgPower Scandinavia last week-end (I was one of the french guy ^^).

Even if I attended to quite a lot of live performance before, this was the first time I went to a festival and the first time I saw each band playing there.
My highlights were Spheric Universe Experience (the French opening band ^^), Andromeda, Threshold, Eldritch (Ok the singer is quite crazy^^), Orphaned Land & ... Mercenary !!!

I discovered Mercenary with the videoclip of Firesoul something like 2 years ago and was litteraly astonished by the performance. So I quickly got 11 Dreams and was not disappointed! Same thing with The Hours That Remain. 2 great albums which I hope will put Mercenary in the front of the scene

The live performance was so powerfull !!! :D Just a pity that the bass & double pedal sound was too high that it sometimes covered the others instruments...
But the show was awesome and the set-list really great.

Speaking of set-list, if someone has the right one, I would be really interested in.

I recognised and remember (I'm not really sure of the order):

- Redefine
- Firesoul
- My World Is Ending
- Lost Reality
- Redestructdead ?
- Seize The Night
- My Secret Window
- The Hours That Remain
- 11 Dreams

To finish, I have just a question: I had the impression that the intro song of the show was Nessun Dorma performed by Manowar ... Was it an hallucination or not?

See ya

I can't remember the exact order but this is as close as I can get:

- Soul Desicion
- Firesoul
- My World Is Ending
- Redefine Me
- Lost reality
- Seize The Night
- My Secret Window
- The Hours That Remain
- 11 Dreams

And yeah what was that opera doing there as pre-intro/opener?
Edit: And welcome Fred.
